Calexico viert (de) feest(en)

En dat doen ze vanaf 4 december met een nieuw album.

'Seasonal Shift' is de opvolger van 'Years To Burn', de plaat Calexico in 2019 met Iron & Wine maakte. In het persbericht wordt ontkend dat het een kerstplaat is. Eerder is het een "cross cultural seasonal celebration". Naast acht nieuwe songs worden er ook enkele classics van John Lennon en Yoko Ono en Tom Petty gecoverd. Portugese fado and oude Mexicaanse folksongs zouden worden aangestipt door het tweetal en dat met de hulp van Bombino, Gaby Moreno, Gisela João, Nick Urata (DeVotchKa) en Camilo Lara.

Joey Burns legt uit: "It's more of a seasonal album and like all seasons they are about change and how those changes in the world resonate inside of you. I never thought this would have gone the way that it did. We were aiming to record a six song EP and we kept going. I guess I never thought I would be on permanent hibernation mode either, but I'm super happy and extremely grateful."
