Gary Numan vertolkt de stem van Moeder Aarde
New Wave overlever Gary Numan brengt op 21 mei zijn achttiende album uit.
Ooit begonnen als zanger bij Tubeway Army (Are Friends Electric? weet u nog?) is Gary Numan dit jaar toe aan zijn achttiende album. ‘Intruder’ wordt de opvolger van ‘Savage: Songs From a Broken World’. En de man blijft jong. Hij kan zo aansluiten bij Youth For Climate want het uitgangspunt voor zijn plaat is: als de aarde kon spreken en voelen wat wij haar aandoen, wat zou ze dan zeggen? Hoe zou zij zich voelen?
Numan: “The planet sees us as its children now grown into callous selfishness, with a total disregard for it’s well being. It feels betrayed, hurt and ravaged. Disillusioned and heartbroken it is now fighting back. Essentially, it considers human kind to be a virus attacking the planet. Climate change is the undeniable sign of the Earth saying enough is enough, and finally doing what it needs to do to get rid of us, and explaining why it feels it has to do it.”
Nog volgens Numan zou het wel eens kunnen dat corona een wapen is van de planet tegen haar vernietiging door de mens. De eerste single, de titeltrack, komt uit op maandag 11 januari. Kom dan nog eens naar hier terug.
