Jeff Tweedy deelt twee nieuwe songs

De frontman van Wilco brengt op 23 oktober een nieuw solo-album uit via dBpm Records.

‘Love is the King’  werd door Jeff Tweedy in april van dit jaar in zijn studio in Chicago, The Loft opgenomen, met de hulp van zijn zonen Spencer en Sammy. Ze namen elke dag een nummer op tot ze er genoeg hadden om een album te vullen. Twee van die songs (Guess Again en de titeltrack) kan je hieronder beluisteren.

“At the beginning of the lockdown I started writing country songs to console myself," zegt Tweedy. "Folk and country type forms being the shapes that come most easily to me in a comforting way. 'Guess Again' is a good example of the success I was having at pushing the world away, counting my blessings — taking stock in my good fortune to have love in my life. A few weeks later things began to sound like 'Love Is The King' — a little more frayed around the edges with a lot more fear creeping in. Still hopeful but definitely discovering the limits of my own ability to self soothe.”

Jeff verwacht ook een nieuw boek, ‘How to Write One Song’, dat op 13 oktober uitkomt via de Dutton Books van Penguin Random House.
